Details
Avignonesi is a wine producer in the Montepulciano region of southern Tuscany. It is well known for its Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, made from the Sangiovese variety, and its Vin Santo, which is the most sought-after on Wine-Searcher.
This red wine is made with Merlot,a red wine grape variety with strong historic ties to Bordeaux and the southwest of France and hints of Cabernet Sauvignon.
The Merlot was picked between the 8th and the 14th of September, the Cabernet Sauvignon was picked on October 4th.
Vinification is done for up to 4 weeks of temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation with maceration on the skins in stainless steel tanks using only indigenous yeasts. The malolactic fermentation take place in oak.
Aging takes places for 20 months in 225 litres oak barrels (15% new).
