Alois Lageder is a renowned wine producer in Alto Adige, Italy's northernmost wine region. The estate was established in 1823 and has been family owned and operated since.
Lageder, since 1823, grows it in what is certainly the most suitable terrain of the whole estate, between Magrè, the Termeno and the Valle d'Isarco, where on an altitude between 250 and 750 meters above sea level clayey and sandy soil cradle rows of an average age between 4 and 48 years.
This wine is made with Gewurztraminer (Gewürztraminer in German-language areas) , a pink-skinned grape variety that produces some of the world's most distinctive aromatic wines. Its perfumed style is somewhat polarizing; fans adore its intense floral scent and sweet-spice flavors, while detractors lament its low acidity and lack of subtlety.
Grapes of the wine are harvested between mid-September and mid-October. After a short cold maceration and pressing, the must ferments in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature.
The wine ages on the lees for about 4 months before being bottled.
