Kellerei Terlan (known as Cantina Terlano in some markets) is a leading wine producer in the Alto Adige – Sudtirol region, regarded as one of the very best cooperatives in Italy.
It is made with Pinot Blanc , a versatile white-wine grape variety used in the production of still, sparkling and sweet dessert wines. Although not the most glamorous member of the Pinot family, the variety has proven its worth in various regions, most notably Alsace in northeast France and the Alto Adige region of Italy.
Fruits are cultivated in a small area that allow the production of 55.000 bottles per year. This wine represents the perfect union between territory and the art of wine-making.
The manual harvest is followed by the soft pressing and the eliminations of lees through natural sedimentation. The slow fermentation is managed at controlled temperature in big barrels made of oak (30 hl). Then, the malolactic fermentation and the aging last for 12 months.
