Friuli Grave (or Grave del Friuli) is a DOC covering a large area of land in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, between the Alps and the Adriatic sea.
It is made with Pinot Grigio, the Italian name for Pinot Gris, a white mutation of the Pinot family. It shares its genetic fingerprint with Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc and several other varieties.
The soil is moderately loose-packed, with patches of gravel.
Vinification of the wine is done without the skins through soft crushing and grape conditioning at +10°C.
Fermentation is done in stainless steel tanks for 18 days at a controlled temperature of +18° to +22°C .
For ageing wine is stored in the cellar at a constant temperature of +12°C , stabilised in refrigeration rooms until bottling.
