The 2014 Santagostino is a fantastic blend of Nero d’Avola and Syrah sourced from the Baglio Sorìa Estate in the Trapani countryside. The vineyards have a south/south-westerly exposure and are situated 200 meters above sea level.
The grapes for this Sicilian red wine grow at 200 meters above the Mediterranean Sea and dig their roots in calcareous, heavy clay soil.
After hand-picking, the grapes are mashed and fermented separately. After fermentation, the Nero d 'Avola and Syrah batches are assembled.
Afterwards, the red Santagostino Baglio Soria matures for 8 months in American oak barriques. Then the wine matures for another 6 months on the bottle before it is finally placed on the market.
