Tenuta San Leonardo is a historic estate in Trentino, Italy. Unlike many other producers in the region, San Leonardo is known for its wines made from Bordeaux grape varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère and Merlot.
Merlot is a red wine grape variety with strong historic ties to Bordeaux and the southwest of France. It is the predominant variety in most wines from Saint-Émilion and Pomerol, the area in which the variety originated.
Fermentation is done with long maturation pomace with repeated daily folatura.
Ageing is done for 12-14 months in new oak barrels, then at least 12 months in bottles.
